A long time it was the very center of the X-Wing Communuty on the web. Many major breakthroughs in research and editing come from the staff and visitors. But now Datamasters Site is history.
Defiant wrote a letter to all visitors, explaining what happened.

March 07, 2000: First Test of new Big Asteroid and Space Slug in XWA

Impressive, but disappointing as well - both opts give me a hard time with graphics glitches, the Asteroid with big portions of dissappearing faces also... and I've no clue what to do about it at the moment, as the facecount per mesh is rather low. Well, I'll see...

March 05, 2000: Galactica for XWA redone. Now with illuminated textures!

Thanx to the new OptEnhancer I was now able to redo the textures to have them illuminated.

January 26, 2000: Galactica: The second Coming   Scarlet Viper in the works

In the trailer for his new BSG movie to come, Richard Hatch (aka Captain Apollo) features a new Viper design. The movie will be set around 20 yahrens after the original series (if ever to be finished). For more info check Richard Hatchs http://www.battlestargalactica.com

The new Viper is an evolutionary devellopment from the original Viper. More info here.

December 30: Some more Galactica ships to be OPTed

Well, in the meantime I started to work on some more ships. The Colonial Shuttle is a model of my own, while the two Argroships DXF are made by Marcos Edson. Thanks, Marcos!

Pleas note that the ships are only pre-textured to check the model in game!

December 21: Big asteroid ALPHA ready for download

I got the first beta release ready, shouldn't make to much problems anymore. I had to split several meshes in two or three new ones. There's a XWA film included to show in the film room (se readme.txt).

December 20: Big asteroid in the works!

Well, I read the Athmospheric Shipset needs the big asteroid and decided to give it a try. DXF finnished so far (1738 faces)! Only got some probs in ACE - I get an error when saving to OPT...

Hehe, had much fun making some screenshots! (now I need to go to bed. 5:50 am)

December 9:  Battlestar Galactica for XvT/BoP 1.0 released: Battlestar_BoP.zip (722kB)

Battlestar Galactica (XWA Beta)I finally fixed some bugs in the latest beta and decided to release the final version. It is for XvT/BoP only at the moment, bacause I wanna find out why the turrets won't rotate in XWA before releasing the XWA version (picture).
This final release for XvT/BoP also has about
120 turbolasers, docking points, launchers....
The only annoying bug that still remains, is this weird rotating and spinning of meshes when it is destroyed. I can't find the reason for it, but maybe I'm blinded in some way. If you know more, please drop me a line!

Don't forget: the opt has FLIGHTGROUP TEXTURES to give it the proper name banner at the hangar side. Currently available are:

If someone needs other names, no big deal. We can just exchange textures.

Oktober 21: I got a new Rhino Demo working and fiddled with the cockpit again.

This is what ACE makes out of it (but went into some bug with jumping faces in XWA):

Oktober 12: I fiddled around with some nice dxfs, lets see what Steele and I will get out of this one (still DXF stadium):

August 21:  Battlestar Galactica Beta 4.0 released

I finnished the texture work and added more lasers. Now she has 40 turbolasers and 26 superlasers.
And of course - engine glows. Have to do them manually for every new beta release, X-ED only edits the exported OPT file :-(

August 07:  Finally! The first  Official of  Beta Battlestar Galactica -(Version 3.6) released!

There are still some textures to be done, for XWA the engins glows are still not fixed. Maybe she'll get some more lasers...
